The Austin iteration of Tipsy Alchemist will offer the same Dallas menu, formatted like the periodic table under the aim of “elements of flavor.” The Alchemist Margarita is made with a salt-chocolate tequila and candied mangoes the bright green Edison with frozen mint and lime and served in a lightbulb-shaped glass and then the Mad Hatter which is actually served via a pneumatic tube transportation system throughout the bar. The bar and lounge, with an emphasis on drinks “with a touch of science, art, and technique,” is planning on opening on the second floor of 70 Rainey Street in the downtown on Wednesday, January 23. Number of beds wasn't an issue, but we paid extra of those 2 things and those were the reasons we booked here. I replied that as long as it had a lake view & was on the top floor, that was fine because that is what we paid for. Now for the rest of it.Upon checking in, the front desk agent told me that the specific room I was booked for was not available. The only positive I was say is that the staff is very friendly and welcoming. Wasn't the wort hotel experience I have had, but I would not recommend booking a stay here and we will not return. ![]()
