My setup saved around 40 minutes up to 3 hours, depending which loadout of software was pre-loaded. All in all, a fun exercise in trying to reduce the amount of time it would take to get an XP system up and running. It worked to a fault - I had to utilize a bunch of other things sorta chain-loaded to get activation working right (I utilized OEMBIOS.BIN installers for OEM activation from the tattoos in the BIOS). I will say that my solution was kinda hacked together, even with the software setup as the firstrun before the OOBE wizard. now I just need to try and figure out if anyone knows of such software, or has a clue as to what it was called. I used it to deploy XP systems for a number of years over PXE Boot. It was freeware, as far as I can recall, and allowed you to use Windows 7/8-era Dism/ImageX to capture and deploy the XP system image. I used to use a 3rd party tool from before PantherXP that would allow me to apply an XP image and it would prepare the machine on first boot with all the bells and whistles, but I cannot for the life of me, remember what the software was called. ![]()
